WASHINGTON – Butler was limited to just 10 points in the second half at Georgetown which led to a 56-45 setback in Washington, D.C. Georgetown's win on New Year's Eve went down as their home opener and doubled as their first win of the season. BU puts a wrap on 2020 with a 0-4 record.
The 'Dawgs led by nine after the first quarter and would enjoy a 35-31 advantage at the half. All seven active players on the roster hit a 3-point field goal over the opening 20 minutes of action. Head Coach
Kurt Godlevske saw three-straight triples fall through the net in the closing stages of the first quarter giving his team a 16-6 lead.
Georgetown answered with an 8-0 scoring run in the second frame to get back within one point at 27-26. The difference in this one started with a slow third quarter that allowed Georgetown to win that 10-minute stretch 12-2. The fourth was more of the same until
Tenley Dowell connected on back-to-back triples to end the game.

Okako Adika led the team with 11. Adika just missed a double-double by adding nine rebounds two assists and a block.
Georgetown got a lift from Yasmin Ott and her game-high 13 points. She was one of three Hoyas to hit double figures in the scoring column joining Graceann Bennett and Jillian Archer.
The Hoyas changed the momentum of the game with hustle points coming off the offensive glass. 12 offensive rebounds helped them outscore Butler 16-0 in second chance points. GU also won the points in the paint battle 22-12.
Butler hit seven 3-point field goals in the first half, but were limited to just two in the second. Each triple came from Dowell in the final 1:27 of the game.
Butler will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 7 with a home game against #18 DePaul. Tip inside Hinkle Fieldhouse will go up at 2 PM.
