#18 DePaul Defeats @ButlerUWBB 80-66

INDIANAPOLIS – #18 DePaul handed Butler an 80-66 loss on Thursday night to earn their ninth win of the 2020-21 season. The Bulldogs will look to rebound on Sunday with a game on FS1 vs. Marquette.

Tenley Dowell scored a career-high 14 points for Butler in 26 minutes of action. Other 'Dawgs to hit double figures in the scoring column included Genesis Parker with 18, Okako Adika with 16 and Jaia Alexander with 12. Alexander once again led the club in rebounds with 10 to post her second double-double of the campaign.

Butler held a 6-2 lead at the first media timeout, but would trail 17-12 after one. The Blue Demons hit just one of their first 11 attempts and were 0-8 from 3-point land, but they were able to shrug off the slow start and end the quarter on a 7-0 scoring run.

That theme would continue throughout the evening with DePaul also closing the second quarter on a 7-0 run. A 41-27 halftime deficit for Butler would grow to 56-38 in the third quarter after a 9-0 DePaul scoring spree.

Lexi Held led the Blue Demons with 17 points while Sonya Morris chipped in with 15. Deja Church would match Jaia Alexander's effort with 13 points and 12 boards for a double-double performance.

DePaul used defensive pressure to create 26 Butler turnovers. Those miscues would result in 31 points for the road team. Butler also caused some problems for DePaul as well by recording 11 steals and forcing the Blue Demons into 15 turnovers.

Sunday will be Butler's first appearance on a national stage (FS1) as they host the Golden Eagles at 2 PM.
