COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Butler women's tennis team competed at the Gamecock Shootout hosted by South Carolina over the weekend. A pair of freshmen accounted for the team's two individual wins against the stiff competition faced, which included Michigan, Ohio State, South Carolina and SMU.
Katie Beavin defeated South Carolina's Chloe Narboni in a tiebreaker 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(12-10) Sunday morning for Butler's lone singles win of the tournament.
Beavin teamed up with fellow freshman
Norah Balthazor Saturday afternoon to beat Ohio State's Kolie Allen and Kathleen Jones 6-3 in doubles play.
The tournament marked the conclusion of the fall season for the Bulldogs. Information on the spring schedule will be released soon.
