2021-22 Media Guide

INDIANAPOLIS – The 2021-22 Butler women's basketball team will take the floor at Hinkle Fieldhouse for the first time this season on Thursday night when they host the Trine Thunder at 7 PM. The exhibition contest will serve as the final tune-up before Butler hosts #8 Indiana on Nov. 10 in the season opener.

Scouting Trine
Trine enters the 2021-22 season ranked third in the nation, according to the D3hoops.com preseason poll. A year ago, the Thunder posted a 14-3 record, with all three losses coming against the number one team in NCAA DIII. All-Region selection Tara Bieniewicz is one of four returning starters on the Trine roster. Bieniewicz averaged 10.8 points per game last year and is a threat from behind the arc. Kayla Wildman and Makayla Ardis are also talented guards returning to the roster. On the inside, Kelsy Taylor will anchor the paint. The 6-2 senior from Louisville averaged nine points and six rebounds as a junior.

Exhibition Action
Butler's last exhibition game came during the 2019 season against Indianapolis. The Bulldogs won 70-46. Tenley Dowell scored 18 points the first time she donned a Bulldog jersey.

Coach Godlevske
Head Coach Kurt Godlevske heads into his eighth season as the leader of the Butler women's basketball program. He has recorded 90 wins during his time at BU, the fourth-most victories recorded by any coach in program history.

Welcome to Butler
The Butler coaching staff welcomes eight newcomers to the 2021-22 roster this season. Celena Taborn (Furman), Kendall Wingler (Eastern Kentucky), and Kate Tanner (Miles CC) will join freshmen Madison Royal-Davis, Trinity White, Zoe Jackson, Alex Richard and Sydney Jaynes.

2020-21 Roster Breakdown
Two graduate students, three seniors, one junior, three sophomores and seven freshmen make up the 2020-21 roster. These student-athletes travel to Indianapolis from eight different states. The 'Dawgs also have a player from Quebec City, Canada and Melbourne Australia!

Hello Hinkle
Butler will play seven of their nine non-conference games at Hinkle Fieldhouse this season. The first road test of the season will send BU downtown to play IUPUI at The Jungle. The Bulldogs will also play at Illinois in December. Highlighting the home slate will be three contests against in-state rivals. Butler will host Indiana in the season opener, face Ball State six days later, and end the non-conference portion of the schedule with a matchup against Evansville.
