The Bulldogs closed 2021 with a strong showing at DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invitational in Chicago. School marks fell for the second straight weekend as three Bulldogs updated the record book Friday night.

One week after tying Wade Walder's school record in the pole vault, freshman Paul Signorelli claimed the mark for himself. Signorelli won the event Friday night with a height of 5.10 meters (16'9"). His height a week ago that matched Walder was 4.85 meters (15'11").

The second Butler school record to fall Friday night came from Isaac Kane in the 300 meters. His time of 33.84 is the new Butler mark. His time was also good enough to be nearly one second ahead of second-place Michael Stanley of DePaul (34.62).

Tom Pitkin posted a new Butler mark with a time of 1:18.98 in the 600 meters. That came one week after he claimed the school record in the 400 meters at Notre Dame's Blue Gold Invitational.

Another victory Friday night belonged to Andrew Taylor in the mile. His time of 4:21.50 had him ahead of teammate Conor Naughton, who finished second in 4:25.47.

On the women's side, Niki Ezeh won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.61. That time matched the school record that stood up until a week ago when Ezeh bettered her own mark with a time of 8.53 at Notre Dame's Blue Gold Invitational.

Elsa Rusthoven won the mile in a time of 4:59.51. Ashley Learn was third at 5:11.46.

Rebecca Collester and Morgan Walsh posted second-place finishes in the 300 meters and 600 meters, respectively. Collester crossed the line in a time of 40.31, while Walsh's time was 1:36.68.

The Bulldogs were joined in the field Friday night by Chicago State, DePaul, Illinois State, Indiana State, Loyola, Marquette, and UIC.

Friday's meet took place at the Track and Field Center at Gately Park, the same venue that will host the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in February.

The Bulldogs are now off for finals week followed by the holiday break. Butler returns to action Jan. 8 at Purdue's Fred Wilt Invitational.
