MILWAUKEE – The Bulldogs took a 77-48 loss at Marquette inside the Al McGuire Center on Wednesday afternoon. The victory gave the Golden Eagles the series sweep over the Bulldogs.
How It Happened
Marquette hit three of their first four shots vs. Butler to jump out to a 7-0 lead. After a Bulldog timeout,
Genesis Parker knocked down a three and
Upe Atosu would follow with a triple of her own. Parker would end the opening 10 minutes with 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting. Three of those four makes were from behind the arc.
BU trailed by just four points after the first frame, but the Golden Eagles opened up the second quarter on a 12-2 scoring run forcing the 'Dawgs to use another timeout. The scoring spree gave the home team a 32-18 lead. Marotta was the top scorer early for Marquette with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Marquette outscored Butler 16-6 in the second to hold a 36-22 advantage at halftime.
Parker hit her fourth 3-pointer of the game in the early stages of the third quarter, but the Bulldogs would trail Marquette 51-29 at the media timeout. Each defense locked up the opposition over the final 4:41 of the third. BU scored three points and held Marquette to just two.
Marquette opened the final quarter on a 10-2 scoring run and would lead Butler by 25 at the final media timeout. The Bulldogs would match their first quarter point production with 16, but would fall at the final buzzer 77-48.

Genesis Parker scored 11 of her team-high 16 points in the first quarter. She only scored 10 points vs. Marquette in the first meeting.
