Scouting #24 DePaul
DePaul broke a two-game losing streak on Feb. 27 with a 75-49 road win at Providence. The Blue Demons had recently lost at home to Creighton (83-72) and Marquette (85-71). Monday's match-up vs. Butler will once again be at Wintrust Arena and serve as senior day for Courtney Fredrickson, Kiara Dallmann, Jolene Daniger, Deja Church and Dee Bekelja. Head Coach Doug Bruno will have the Blue Demons playing for the No. 3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. DePaul is 14-6 overall with an 11-4 mark in conference competition. Sonya Morris leads the team with an 18.9 scoring average and Lexi Held is second on the team averaging 16.5 per game. As a team, DePaul averaged 82 points per contest, but allows 78.

All-Time Series vs. DePaul
Butler and DePaul have met 20 times overall with the Blue Demons coming out on top in all 20 games.

Last Meeting vs. the Blue Devils
Tenley Dowell scored a career-high 14 points for Butler in the first meeting vs. DePaul this year. The Blue Demons posted an 80-66 victory by shooting 43 percent from the field. Lexi Held (17), Sonya Morris (15) and Deja Church led DePaul in the scoring column, while Genesis Parker (18), Okako Adika (16) and Jaia Alexander (12) handled the scoring load for the Bulldogs.

Last Game
#1 UConn handed Butler a 97-68 loss at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon. The loss on Senior Day had a silver lining with Butler reaching 68 points, the most scored by a BIG EAST team against UConn this season. Genesis Parker tied her season-high scoring total with 18 points. Parker hit four 3-pointers, making her one of seven players to hit from long range. BU finished the contest with a season-high 14 3-pointers. In the end, UConn would rely on two freshman to remain the top team in the country. Paige Bueckers recorded 20 points and 14 assists. Teammate Aailyah Edwards had 24 points and 14 rebounds.

Tournament Talk
Five teams are locked into tournament seeds as the 2020-21 regular season comes to a close. UConn will play as the #1 seed and Marquette is right behind them at #2. With a win, DePaul would be the #3 seed, but Seton Hall can take that spot with a win accompanied by a DePaul loss. Villanova is the #5 seed and Creighton is in at #6. As of now, Providence is #7 and St. John's is #8. Xavier's win over Georgetown locked them into the #9 seed and moved the Hoyas to the #10 seed. Butler came move up to #10 with a win over DePaul, but will be stuck at #11 with a loss.

Starting Five
Butler has used nine different starting lineups this season. No Bulldog has started in all 18 games and only Tenley Dowell has appeared in all 18. The good news for Bulldog fans is that Coach G has used the same starting five of Adika, Diew, Parker, Dowell and Atosu over the team's last four games. The 'Dawgs are averaging 71.6 points over their last three. On the season they average just 55.4.

Both Came From Bedford
DePaul forward Jorie Allen transferred to the Blue Demons after beginning her collegiate career at Indiana. The Hoosier native played high school ball at Bedford North Lawrence where Kurt Godlevske coached before coming to Butler. Allen was Indiana Miss Basketball in 2019 and led Bedford North Lawrence to four-straight sectional championships. She was an Indiana All-Star and finished her career as the program's all-time leading scorer (1,930 points). Prior to Butler, Godlevske spent seven years as the head coach at Bedford North Lawrence guiding the Lady Stars to a 120-41 record. They were a perfect 28-0 in 2013 on their way to winning the IHSAA Class 4A State Championship.

Senior Stepping Up
Upe Atosu missed five games in the middle of the season with an injury, but has been terrific for Butler since returning on Feb. 10. She scored 16 points in her return to action at Marquette and has now hit double figures in four of Butler's last five games. Her season-high scoring total of 23 points came in the 73-61 win over Xavier on Feb. 22.

BIG EAST Rankings
Okako Adika ranks 14th in the conference with a 13.4 scoring average and Parker is close behind in 17th (13.1). Adika is a proven threat inside and out. She has made more field goals than any other Bulldog (85) and ranks third in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goal percentage (.418). Butler's other weapon from behind the arc is Parker. She ranks fourth in the league averaging 2.1 3-point makes per game. Nyamer Diew has eight blocks over Butler's last two games and now ranks 10th in the BIG EAST in blocked shots per game (1.1).

Need 1 for 90
Head Coach Kurt Godlevske has won 89 games at Butler, giving him the fourth-most wins in program history. BU won 23 games during the 2018-19 campaign and were set for another 20-win season in 2019-20 before COVID-19 abruptly ended all games.

Alexander Has Been Inactive
Butler guard Jaia Alexander missed three of Butler's first four games and now has been inactive for BU over their last three games. There is no timetable for her return.

Up Next
