Karina Latsko recorded a hat trick in the Bulldogs' 18-5 loss to Marquette on Friday at Varsity Field. Butler shifts to 1-10, 0-9 in BIG EAST and the Golden Eagles move to 6-9, 3-6 in the league with a chance to still advance to the conference tournament.
How It Happened:
Marquette jumped to a six-goal lead to start the first half before a strike from
Campbell Connors stopped their run.
Karina Latsko nailed her first score of the game near the end of the first half to keep the lead in single-digits at halftime.
Marquette scored the running-clock goal 30-seconds into the second period and went on another four goal run.
Before adding two more goals to her total, Latsko sent a long lead pass to fellow senior
Madeline Hooks who made a one-on-one move in the open field for her third goal of the season.
Latsko nailed back-to-back unassisted goals to close out the offense for Butler.
Notable Stats:
- Connors is now tied for the team lead with 10 goals on the year, along with KK Callaghan and Lindsey Schreiber
- Latsko is just the second Bulldog with a hat trick on the season. Sophomore Greer Bireley had a three-goal game at Villanova
- Latkso finished the game with a team-high four points
- Amanda Rumsey had another strong game in the pipes, making 12 saves.
