Butler's track and field program continued to showcase the Bulldogs' academic achievement by ranking among the nation's best in team grade point average, while also picking up a number of recognitions from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

All-Academic Teams for the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Track & Field seasons were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Both Bulldog teams earned the All-Academic Team recognition.

Butler's men were ninth nationally with a 3.525 GPA, while the women's program was 12
th among NCAA Division I programs with a 3.687 GPA.

The two programs combined for a fifth-place finish nationally, trailing only Stanford, San Francisco, Idaho and Lipscomb.

"Over the last decade, our men and women have proven to be one of the elite track and field programs nationally in the classroom," said head coach
Matt Roe. "This year was no different with both squads showing a first-class commitment to their academic endeavors. Our historical success could not take place without the unwavering support of our outstanding faculty and support staff. Butler's academic leadership and care for our students is special and we are grateful for their mentorship."

In the combined men's and women's GPA rankings, Butler's fifth-place finish for 2021 continues a strong run of academic performances that includes stellar performances in recent years: sixth in 2020, tied for 13
th in 2019, fourth in 2018, and first in 2016 (with the men leading the nation and the women fourth individually). Butler also held the top spot in 2009. Â

A program-record 10 Bulldogs earned the prestigious All-Academic Athlete recognition from the USTFCCCA. The list includes two women and eight men.

All-Academic Athlete recognition by the USTFCCCA is among the most stringent nationally. Those honored must:

- Maintain a minimum CUMULATIVE grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
- Must have completed at least two (2) semesters or three (3) quarters at the nominating institution.
- For the indoor season:Â must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
- For the outdoor season: must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I descending order lists on TFRRS for Outdoor Track and Field.
