Butler defender Amanda Kowalski has been selected as the BIG EAST Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her performances in wins over Wright State and Ball State.
The Kowalski-led Butler defense limited opponents to just two shots on goal last week as the Bulldogs outshot Wright State and Ball State by a combined 42-3 margin, including 22-2 on target. Butler also posted a 15-5 advantage in corner kicks. Kowalski added an assist in Sunday's 3-0 win against the Cardinals, dishing on Abigail Isger's seventh-minute game winner.
For Kowalski, the weekly honor is the third of her Butler career.
Redshirt-sophomore Abigail Isger earned a spot on the five-member BIG EAST weekly honor roll after registering a total of five points (two goals, one assist) in the same matches. Both of her goals were the game winners.
The Bulldogs return to action Thursday, hosting Western Michigan at the Sellick Bowl.
