2022 Butler Baseball Schedule
 
INDIANAPOLIS – The 2022 Butler baseball schedule is loaded with big games. Butler will play Tennessee, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Indiana and Purdue in non-conference action. BIG EAST play begins on April 8 with a road trip to Villanova. The first home series against a BIG EAST opponent will be on April 14 against Georgetown.  
 
Opening day for the Butler baseball team will be on Friday, Feb. 18 as the Bulldogs travel down to Murray, Kentucky to face the Racers of Murray State in a three game series. Butler will then head down to Jackson, Miss. for the Jackson State Tournament, where they will take on Harvard, UIC, and Jackson State.
 
The 2022 home opener will feature Butler hosting Manchester on March 1. Following the home opener, Butler will travel down to Jacksonville, Fla. to take on Jacksonville (March 4-6) and North Florida (March 8-9).
 
Butler will face the first of its four Big Ten opponents on the 2022 schedule on March 15, as they travel to Champaign, Ill. to face Illinois. Following a three game home series with Eastern Michigan (March 18-20), the Bulldogs will head to Knoxville to face Tennessee on March 22. Tennessee was the SEC Tournament runner-up in 2021 and made an appearance in Omaha at the College World Series.
 
The Bulldogs will return home for a three game series against Northwestern on March 25-27. After a one game road trip at Bellarmine on March 29, the Bulldogs will return home to open up the month of April with a four game series against Eastern Illinois from April 1-3.
 
After facing the Panthers, Butler will go to South Bend to face Notre Dame on April 5 for the team's final test before BIG EAST play. The Irish finished with the best record in the ACC in 2021 and advanced to the NCAA Super-Regionals.
 
The Bulldogs will travel to Philadelphia to open up BIG EAST play against Villanova in a three game series from April 8-10. After returning home on April 12 for a home game against Evansville, the Bulldogs will host their first conference series of the season from April 14-16 against Georgetown.
 
After returning from a three game road series in New York against St. John's (April 22-24), the Bulldogs will travel just down the road to Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis for a neutral site matchup with Indiana on Tuesday, April 26. First pitch against the Hoosiers is slated for 6:00 PM.
 
Butler hosts its second conference home stand from April 29 - May 1 against the defending BIG EAST Champions, UConn. After a home game against Indiana Wesleyan on May 3, the Bulldogs will host conference rival Xavier from May 6-8. The matchup against the Musketeers on Sunday, May 8 will also be Senior Day for Butler.
 
Following senior day, Butler will begin a long road trip that starts in West Lafayette on May 10 against Purdue, the final of Butler's Big Ten opponents in 2022. The Bulldogs will then travel to Dayton on May 11 before a BIG EAST series at Creighton from May 13-15. The road trip will conclude in Fort Wayne, Ind. on May 17 vs. Purdue-Fort Wayne.
 
Butler will close out the regular season with a home stand against Seton Hall from May 19-21. The 2022 BIG EAST Tournament will be held from May 26-29 and will take place in Mason Ohio at Prasco Park.
 
Butler returns numerous starters from last year's team. Second Team All-BIG EAST selection James Gargano is back in the dugout for the 2022 campaign. Gargano led Butler in runs, hits, home runs and total bases in 2021. Nick Eaton (3.48 ERA, 47 K's) and Aaron Steinhart (24 RBI, 5 HR) are also back in the mix for head coach Dave Schrage.
