The Bulldogs opened the 2021-22 campaign against some of the nation's top competition at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional. The tournament was hosted by the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.

Michael Dickson defeated Chattanooga's Ryan Mudre, 6-1, 6-4, before falling to seeded Athell Bennett of Purdue. Drew Michael took that same approach, picking up a straight-set victory over Austin Peay's Anton Damberg before dropping a 7-6 (4), 6-3 decision to Vanderbilt's Jeremie Casabon in the Round of 64.

Alvaro Huete won his first two matches, including a 6-3, 6-0 win over East Tennessee State's Yusuf Khamis. He later fell in three sets to seeded Joubert Klopper of Vanderbilt (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) in the Round of 32.

Thomas Brennan, Borja Miralles, and Michael Karr lost their opening-round matches. Miralles then went on to win two consolation contests.

In doubles action, Brennan and Dickson combined to win their first two matches in convincing fashion, 8-4 and 8-1. Their first-round win was over the seeded team of Tennessee's Shunsuke Mitsui and Angel Diaz.

Michael and Zach Trimpe won their opening match 8-6 over Jorge Rodriguez and Brandon Ponomarew of Northern Kentucky and advanced again with a walkover before falling to Memphis's David Stevenson and Oscar Cutting in the Round of 16.

Huete and Miralles made a run through the back draw with a pair of wins and a walkover. The duo was then unable to play their consolation semifinal match.

The Bulldogs are back in action Oct. 9-10 continuing fall tournament action at the Western Michigan Invitational.
