The Bulldogs climbed into a tie for ninth to finish off the Zach Johnson Invitational Tuesday afternoon. Butler entered the final 18 in 12th place.

Butler's final round 290 served as the Bulldogs' best of the 54-hole tournament. The Bulldogs shot 302 and 293 in Monday's two rounds. Butler finished at 885 (+33).

The score of 290 on Tuesday was sixth-best among the 15-team field. Butler finished in a tie for ninth with St. Thomas. The Bulldogs bettered BIG EAST rivals DePaul (890; 11th) and Creighton (898 12th).

Drake and North Dakota State tied for the team title at 853 (+1).

Raymond Sullivan was the Bulldogs' top performer, carding an even-par 71 on the 6,898-yard Glen Oaks Club course in West Des Moines, Iowa. Sullivan's 219 (+6) included a two-under 69 with five birdies in the second round. Sullivan tied for 23rd.

Daniel Tanaka moved from a tie for 59th into a tie for 35th with a one-under 70. He finished at 222 (+9).

Stephen Kocerha and Damon Dickey were part of a group that tied for 45th at 224 (+11).

Freshman Weston Guili finished in a tie for 54th at 226 (+13). Nick Williams, playing as an individual, shot 242 (+29) to finish 84th.

Matthis Besard of Southern Illinois won the event by five shots at 10-under 203 after rounds of 66, 68 and 69.

The Bulldogs return to action Oct. 4-5 at the Cleveland State Invitational.
