@ButlerUGolf Men Open Season with 13th-Place Finish at Hoosier Collegiate Invitational

The Bulldogs opened the 2021-22 campaign with a 13th-place finish at the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational.
 
Butler shot a final round team score of 323 Monday after carding 321 and 304 in the two rounds Sunday. Their 54-hole total was 948 (+96). There were 15 teams in the field.
 
Cincinnati and Illinois tied for the team title at 858 (+6). The host Hoosiers were two shots back at 860.
 
Indiana's Drew Salyers won the individual title at 208 (-5).
 
Butler's top performers were both seeing their first action carrying the Bulldog golf bag. Daniel Tanaka and Weston Guili tied for 60th at 236 (+23). The Bulldogs navigated Indiana's home Pfau Golf Course, which was set up as a par-71 and at 7,265 yards.
 
Stephen Kocerha was one shot behind his teammates at 237 (+24). Nick Williams (247; +34) tied for 76th.
 
Freshman Damon Dickey shot rounds of 83 and 77 to finish the tournament, but was DQ'd in the opening round.
 
The event served as the 2021-22 season for the Bulldogs and the first competition of head coach Colby Huffman's Butler tenure after he was hired over the summer.
 
The Bulldogs return to action Sept. 17-18 with the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational hosted by Ball State.
