(RV) DePaul Wins at @ButlerUWBB 103-69

INDIANAPOLIS – DePaul's Aneesah Morrow scored 33 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to help the Blue Demons defeat the Bulldogs on Friday night 103-69. Butler got a career-high 19 points out of Emilia Sexton, but DePaul would earn the road win with five players scoring in double figures.

How it Happened
Butler opened the game by scoring the first five points of the night, but DePaul would storm back to tie the game early at 7-7. The Blue Demons made five-straight shots before the media timeout and would hold onto a 13-9 advantage at the first stoppage. Aneesah Morrow was responsible for seven of DePaul's first 13 points while Celena Taborn got off to a fast for Butler with six.

DePaul's full court press continued to cause problems for the home team and the Blue Demons quickly added four more points to the scoreboard pushing Butler into a timeout. DePaul shot 50 percent from the field over the first 10 minutes of the game and would therefore own a 25-11 lead after the first quarter.

Butler nearly matched their first quarter point production just four minutes into the second quarter. Emilia Sexton checked into the game and had five of Butler's 10 points before the media timeout. Butler's best stretch of basketball came in the final five minutes before halftime. They scored 15 points over the final 4:49 to take some momentum into the locker room.

Dowell scored seven of her 10 first half points in the second quarter and Trinity White matched Sexton's five. BU shot 47 percent in the second quarter and would connect on four of their five 3-point attempts.

The tempo established in the second quarter didn't slow down after halftime. Each team went on 7-0 scoring runs to light up the scoreboard over the opening moments of the second half. Sexton and Alex Richard each scored six points for BU in the third, but DePaul would take full control over the final stages to win the frame 34-14.

DePaul hit the century mark with 1:24 to play in the contest, but the Bulldogs played hard to the final buzzer. They outscored DePaul 19-18 in the fourth to take us to our final score of 103-69.
