Several Butler student-athletes are scheduled to compete at the Gene Edmonds Memorial Invitational, which begins Saturday morning at Purdue's Lambert Fieldhouse in West Lafayette, Ind.
Bulldogs have already set new program records in eight events in just two meets so far in the indoor season (Blue and Gold Invitational on December 3 in South Bend, Ind., and Blue Demon Holiday Invitational on December 10 in Chicago). Several of the new record setters will look to build on their performances this weekend.
Graduate
Niki Ezeh will again try to better her own program record of 8.53 in the 60m hurdles which she set on December 3. Prelims for the event are set to start at 12:15 p.m., while the finals will be around 1:50 p.m. Ezeh is also scheduled to compete in the long jump and shot put events in the morning.
Graduate
Tom Pitkin, who set the 400m (47.26) and 600m (1:18.98) school records in December, tries out another distance (800m) Saturday afternoon around 2:05 p.m.
Sophomore
Isaac Kane, fresh off setting the school record in the 300m dash (33.84 seconds) December 10 in Chicago, will run in the 60m and 400m races.
In the field, freshmen pole valuters
Paul Signorelli and
Luke Walden are hoping to continue strong starts to their rookie campaigns, with Signorelli looking to build on his school record of 5.10m (16'9") set December 10.
The next meet for the Bulldogs will be January 14 and 15 in Lexington, Ky., at the Jim Green Invitational.
