Will Horne wrote his name in the Butler record book with his final round performance Tuesday at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational hosted by Cleveland State. Horne's birdie-laden round also led the Bulldogs' charge as the team moved up the leaderboard.

THE BULLDOGS: Horne set a new Butler record with his Tuesday round of 65. Horne had seven birdies against only one bogey on the 7,059-yard Lakewood Country Club in Westlake, Ohio. Horne's six-under round broke the Butler record of 66 set by Michael Amore at the 2007 IPFW Fall Invitational as the best Bulldog performance on a par-71 course.

Damon Dickey was the top Bulldog on the tournament leaderboard with a two-over total of 215. Dickey shot a one-under 70 in Tuesday's final round.

Raymond Sullivan had five birdies on his Tuesday round, carding an even-par 71.

Dayton's Henry May took individual honors at 210 (-3). His second-round 66 Monday proved to be the difference. He finished three shots clear of the field. Â

THE COMPETITION: Butler's 281 in the final round was the best team score of the day Tuesday as the Bulldogs climbed from fourth into second over the closing 18 holes. Oakland entered the final round in the lead, which included a six-shot advantage over the Bulldogs. Butler was able to chew into four of those shots before Oakland held on down the stretch.
