@ButlerUMTennis Has Strong Showing at Ball State Fall Invitational

The Bulldogs spent the weekend in Muncie, Ind., taking part in the 38th Annual Ball State Fall Invitational. Butler faced off against players from host Ball State, as well as BIG EAST rival Marquette and crosstown foe IUPUI.

Play began Friday and ran through Sunday.

Tom Brennan won three matches in the top flight of singles, advancing to the championship match against Ball State's Nathaniel Webster. Webster pulled out the decision with a third-set match tiebreaker, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 1-0 (10-6).

Freshman Aidan William won his first three matches in the B flight of singles, advancing to the championship match. Broc Fletcher of Ball State took that match in straight sets. Zach Trimpe won his first two matches in the B flight, while Borja Miralles went 2-1 in combined main draw and consolation play.

In doubles, Brennan and Miralles joined forces and advanced to the championship match of the top flight, winning two matches along the way.
  
Up next for the Bulldogs is a trip to Louisville, Ky., for the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals, Oct. 13-17.
