Four seniors and a graduate student make up the starting five unit for the IUPUI Jaguars. First-year head coach Kate Bruce has two games behind her early in the 2022-23 campaign. The Jags lost at home to UIC on Nov. 7 (52-50) and recently took a loss at #7 Louisville (84-62). Jazmyn Turner and Rachel Kent are the top two scoring threats on the team. Turner is 6-2 forward averaging a team-high 11 points per game. She dominated inside vs. UIC with 20 points, but was limited to just two points against the Cardinals. Kent played just the opposite with just three points in the opener, but 17 against the nationally-ranked Cardinals. Turner is a Ball State transfer and Kent came to IUPUI from Saint Louis. Bulldog fans will also see a familiar face on Sunday afternoon. Former BU guard Genesis Parker will use her final year of eligibility at IUPUI this season. She has appeared in each game so far, averaging 18 minutes of playing time per contest. The fourth transfer on the IUPUI roster is guard Destiny Perkins. She is an Indianapolis native that played at Akron as a freshman.

All-Time Series                                                                                      Â
Butler leads the all-time series against IUPUI 17-8. The Jags hosted Butler at the Jungle during the 2021-22 campaign and handed Butler an 80-47 loss. Rachel Kent led the Jags with 16 points.
Anna Mortag was with IUPUI during that contest and scored eight points against the Bulldogs. Butler's last win over IUPUI came in 2019 (64-61).
Rachel McLimore and now assistant coach
Holly Hoopingarner combined for 20 points, eight rebounds and six steals in that contest. Ironically, Genesis Parker was the driving force behind the BU win with a game-high 23 points. Â
Austin Parkinson Appointed to Lead Butler                                   Â
Austin Parkinson is the Jaguars all-time winningest coach in program history (224 wins). During his 12 seasons at IUPUI, Parkinson posted eight 20-win seasons and earned the program's first NCAA tournament appearance by winning the 2020 Horizon League Tournament. IUPUI punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament again in 2022 as a 13-seed. The 2022 season was capped off with IUPUI having a student-athlete selected in the WNBA Draft, marking the first Jaguar to be drafted in program history.
Â
IUPUI Influence                                                                                     Â
Assistant coaches
Latrell Fleming and
Holly Hoopingarner were recently part of Parkinson's IUPUI coaching staff. Fleming worked on post-play development at IUPUI with Parkinson for seven seasons and Hoopingarner joined the Jags coaching staff after playing point guard at IUPUI from 2016-20. Fellow assistant coach
Kristin Wodrich was a part of the staff at IUPUI for three seasons before taking the head coaching job at UIndy in 2016.
