INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. this week to participate in the Florida Atlantic Thanksgiving Tournament. BU will play two games in two days. Action unfolds on Friday, Nov. 25 with Butler playing Sacred Heart at 2 PM. The next day, Butler will play Binghamton at 2 PM.

Scouting Sacred Heart                                                                         Â
The Pioneers are 1-4 this year with their lone win coming in the season opener vs. Hartford (72-34). Four-straight losses followed the first game of the season with Sacred Heart taking losses to La Salle, Monmouth, Brown and Iona. The team only averaged 50.2 points per game during that stretch. Ny'Ceara Pryor and Sajada Bonner each average double figures for SHU in the scoring column. Pryor leads the team in points (14.8), assists (3.2), and steals (4.4). Bonner is the top 3-point shooter on the roster. She is scoring 10.4 points per game. Head Coach Jessica Mannetti has been with the Pioneers since the 2013-14 season. Sacred Heart has made three postseason appearances during her tenure.

Butler got back on track with a 72-55 win over visiting Tennessee State.
Rachel McLimore scored a game-high 21 points as the Bulldogs used a 24-point third quarter to pull away. With Butler's win, all 11 BIG EAST teams are now .500 or better on the season, with five teams still undefeated (UConn, Creighton, St. John's, Villanova, Xavier).

For the second straight week, three BIG EAST teams were listed in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. The BIG EAST boasts the nation's top three scorers. DePaul's Aneesah Morrow leads Division I with 31.5 points per game, followed by second-ranked Azzi Fudd of Connecticut, who is averaging 30.0 points per game. Villanova's Maddy Siegrist rounds out the list in third with her 29.0 scoring average.

The Bulldogs used a 24-point third quarter to pull away from Tennessee State on Monday night. This season, Butler is +19 against the opposition in the third frame.

A Look Ahead                                                                                                      Â
Butler will play a 4-1 Binghamton team on Saturday. The Bearcats have wins over Bloomsburg (63-46), Army (76-61), Pittsburgh at Johnston (71-45) and Canisius (75-72). Their lone setback came at Syracuse (92-59) on Nov. 14. The Binghamton offense is a balanced attack that features four student-athletes scoring 10+ points per game. Ella Wanzer, Clare Traeger and Danai Bowman all average 11 points per game after the first five games of the season. Head Coach Bethann Shapriro Ord is in her fourth season with the program. She previously spent seven years at Weber State.

This is Butler's first tournament action since the 2019-20 season. That year, Butler participated in the Daytona Tournament. They were defeated by Georgia in game one, but bounced back to collect at 60-55 win over Ohio the next day.

Butler is averaging 71 points per game this season. After the first four games of the 2021-22 campaign, the 'Dawgs were only scoring 57 points per game.

Butler has six players on the roster with at least three made 3-pointers. The 'Dawgs shoot 37 percent from behind the arc and are led from distance by

Jessica Carrothers leads the team with 12 assists early in the 2022-23 season. She has recorded three assists in every game this year and also leads the team with seven steals. The backup point guard only has five turnovers in 82 minutes of action. Her scoring production is also trending up. Carrothers is 11-for-11 from the free throw line over her last two games and has shot 8-for-12 from the field.
