Butler closed out 2022 with several top finishes in Chicago at the Blue Demon Holiday Invitational hosted by DePaul.

The Bulldogs were joined by a field of eight teams including host DePaul, Chicago State, UIC, Loyola-Chicago, Illinois State, Marquette, Indiana State, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

In his second race in a Bulldog uniform,
Luke Finnegan broke the meet record after winning the men's 200 meters. His mark of 21.59 was just ahead of teammateÂ
Ben Bradley, who took second in 22.38. Finnegan's time fell just short of
Issac Kane's school record of 21.35 set less than a year ago.

William Cuthbertson threatened the school record as well in the 600 meters after placing second with a time of 1:19.23.

In the mile,
Andrew Taylor was one of four runners to break the meet record. Taylor finished third in 4:20.03.

Drew Herman finished second in the men's high jump at 2.00 meters.

Jack Elder took home a pair of top-five finishes. He placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.91m and fifth in the 60m hurdles at 8.24.

On the women's side,
Elsa Rusthoven placed second in the women's mile race with a time of 5:11.21. She finished just three seconds behind the winner Fran Hendrickson of Loyola Chicago Rusthoven still owns the meet record with a time of 4:59.51.
Renate Toledo finished in sixth with a time of 5:19.40.

Morgan Walsh led the way in the women's 600m, finishing in second at 1:37.49. She was followed by
Karmen Koch in third at 1:38.20.

Reagan Kelly took home a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 300 meters (41.34) and the 400 meters (57.79). Kelly's mark in the 400 meters was a new personal best and moved her up Butler's all-time list.

Friday's meet was held at Gately Indoor in Chicago. Butler will return to the venue for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in February.

The Bulldogs are now off for finals week and Winter Break. The team will return to action at the Illini Classic Jan. 6.
