Scouting Xavier                                                                                     Â
The Musketeers are 8-16 this year with a 3-12 mark against conference competition. They will host #10 UConn on Friday night before traveling to Indianapolis for a Sunday night contest. The trip to Indy will be the final road test of the year for Xavier as the Musketeers close down the regular season with home tilts vs. Georgetown, Villanova and Seton Hall. Xavier recorded their third conference win of the year last week on FS1 by defeating Providence in Rhode Island 62-60. The all-access game was a wild one with Xavier outscoring Providence 22-14 in the fourth quarter to pick up the victory. Mackayla Scarlett scored a career-high 18 points to pace the Musketeer offense. Scarlett hit her third 3-pointer of the game with just 43 seconds left to break at 55-55 tie. Xavier closed out the game going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe to seal the win.

All-Time Series vs. Xavier                                                                                  Â
Butler leads the all-time series against Xavier 29-20. The first-ever meeting went down as a 71-64 Bulldog victory during the 1982-83 season. Since joining the BIG EAST at the start of the 2013-14 season, BU has gone 12-6 against their Midwest foe.

Kae Satterfield scored a career-high 18 points, Mackayla Scarlett dropped a career-best 16 points, Megan Harkey notched her first double-double with career highs of 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Shaila Beeler dished a career-best 11 assists as Xavier downed Butler in BIG EAST women's basketball action. The Musketeers shot .423 on the afternoon to combat 11 made triples by the Bulldogs, including five by
Emilia Sexton who led Butler with her 15 points. The Bulldogs narrowed a double-digit halftime deficit down to four, 43-39, midway through the third quarter, but the Musketeers closed the frame on a 16-4 run to pull away. Butler's 11 made triples were a season best. Xavier's win snapped a five-game win streak by Butler in the all-time series.

BIG EAST Tournament                                                                         Â
The Bulldogs will compete in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament on March 4. Action in Uncasville, Conn. will unfold at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Xavier at Hinkle Fieldhouse                                                                Â
Butler is 5-3 against Xavier inside Hinkle Fieldhouse since each program joined the BIG EAST in 2013-14. The Bulldogs won the first two meetings and have come out on top in the last three. Over the last eight games in Hinkle, Butler has averaged 61.8 points per game and has limited Xavier to just 57.6.

Taborn for Two!                                                                                                  Â
Celena Taborn is on pace to break the Butler single-season field goal percentage record. The Furman transfer has made 109 of her 160 attempts (68.1%) and has scored in double figures in each of Butler's last four games. The current record is 65.5% held by Liesl Schultz. Schultz has her name listed three total times in the top ten. She shot 65.5 percent (55-84) in the 1991-92 season. She shot 60.4% (142-235) in the 1993-94 campaign and 59.6% (165-227) in 1994-95.

Sexton for 3!                                                                                          Â
Emilia Sexton leads Butler with 38 made 3-pointers this season. The senior from Louisville made five triples early in the year vs. SIUE, matched that total with five more at Xavier, and also sank five vs. DePaul on Jan. 21. 38 of her 50 made field goals this season have been from behind the arc. Those numbers mirror her career stats with Sexton making 81 of her 107 field goals at BU from long distance.

Butler freshmen have scored 741 of the 1,324 Bulldog points this season (55.9%). BU first-year players scored 21 of the team's 41 points against Providence. A freshman has led BU in scoring nine times this year, including last Sunday with
Kendall Wingler scoring 14 points at Creighton.
