JACKSON, MS- Butler led Prairie View A&M in the first inning, getting the first tally on the board with a single run. The Panthers would not answer until the fourth as Alex Martinez homered to left field. The Bulldogs would take control of the game after scoring nine runs to secure the 10-1 win.
Cole McDaniel earned the win, only allowing five hits in 20 batters faced.
In the fourth,
Garret Gray singled to right field, advancing to second, and earning an RBI and
James Gargano scored.
The Bulldogs would pick things up again in the seventh as Gargano singled to center field and is credited with an RBI. Gargano stole second, and Gray doubled to right field, earning his second RBI on the day. BU led 5-1 going into the eighth.
BU scored five runs in the eighth inning, starting with
Ryan O'Halloran being reached on a fielder's choice-earning an RBI. Holt would advance to second, Van Liere to third, and
Billy Wurch would score, moving the tallies 6-1.
Aaron Steinhart singled to right field (RBI) and Quinten Markle pinch ran for Steinhart. Gargano reached on a fielder's choice (RBI), and O'Halloran scored, and
Nick Ortega would come in to pinch-hit for
Scott Jones. Ortega was hit by pitch, and Gray singled to right field (RBI), and Gargano scored to seal the 10-1 win over the Panthers.
Butler saw Gargano go 2-5 with three runs and two RBIs. Steinhart had another quality performance going 3-5 and having one run and three RBI'S.
