Butler's Barry Keane will compete against the nation's best, punching his ticket to the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants late on the evening of Tuesday, March 1.

Keane will toe the line for the men's 5,000 meters. The race is set for 5:05 p.m. on Friday, March 11.

Keane's time of 13:25.96 is 13th in the 16-person field. In one of the most impressive races in Butler history Dec. 4, both Keane and Simon Bedard topped the Bulldogs' school record in the indoor 5,000 meters at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.

Keane's time is the Ireland national record for an indoor 5,000 meters and broke Erik Peterson's Butler record by nearly 15 seconds.

Florida State's Adriaan Wildschutt enters the 5,000-meter race at the NCAA Championships with the top time (13:09.30).

The championships, hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the City of Birmingham, will be held March 11 and 12 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 11 a.m. Eastern time Friday, March 11 and starting at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time Saturday, March 12. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, March 13 on ESPNU.
