#5 Tennessee Tops @ButlerUBaseball 13-3

KNOXVILLE – The Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Butler Bulldogs on Tuesday night by the final score of 13-3. The win moves Tennessee to 20-1 on the year while Butler slides to 9-11. Camden Sewell (3-1) was credited with the win at Lindsey Nelson Stadium and Luke Zmolik was hit with the loss.

Zmolik had trouble finding the strike zone to start the game which resulted in the Vols scoring six runs in the bottom half of the first. BU would climb onto the scoreboard in the second inning after a solo home run from Scott Jones. Yet another solo homer would come for Butler in the fourth off the bat of Aaron Steinhart and the Bulldogs would finish the game with three solo shots over the wall in left after Ryan O'Halloran went yard in the seventh.

Tennessee never trailed in the contest. The Vols added three runs to their total in the third and solo scores in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.

Camden Sewell was one of one nine Volunteers to touch the rubber on Tuesday night. Ben Joyce highlighted the bullpen by reaching 103 mph on the radar gun. No UT arm threw more than starter Zander Sechrist. The left-hander exited the game after three full frames. He allowed six BU hits and struck out three batters.

Butler came up with eight hits, just two shy of the Tennessee total. Ryan O'Halloran went 2-for-4 from the plate with the solo homer and Kyle Van Liere was 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs.

Benji Downs did most of the heavy lifting for the BU bullpen. The right-handed senior tossed three full innings. John MacCauley, Derek Drees, Dawson Taylor, Austin Andrishok and Greg Gilbert also made appearances.

The Bulldogs will return to Indianapolis this weekend to play three games against two different opponents. Games on Friday and Sunday will be played against the Northwestern Wildcats. Saturday's noon start will be against Southern Illinois.
