North Florida Defeats @ButlerUBaseball 12-6

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Bulldogs led the Ospreys 5-4 after five innings, but the home team would score two runs in the sixth and add six more in the seventh to come back and win the ball game by the final score of 12-6.

Justin Parrish (2-0) picked up the win out of the North Florida bullpen and Alex Voss would be hit with the loss. North Florida got a quality start out of Tony Roca, but the Bulldogs were forced to use the bullpen early in this one with the Osprey scoring four runs over the first two innings.

A sac fly opened up the scoring, then timely hits would follow to give UNF a 4-0 lead. The Bulldogs stayed aggressive on the base paths and would score their first run of the game on a throwing error by the Osprey catcher. James Gargano would add an RBI single in the third to score Travis Holt.

The first triple of the year for BU came in the fifth inning of this one as Scott Jones found room in right field and used his speed to make it to third and score two Bulldog runs. Jones would then give Butler the lead in the fifth at 5-4 scoring an unearned run.

The game stayed tight in the sixth even with North Florida adding two runs to the scoreboard. Butler got one back in the seventh, but six UNF runs in the bottom half would seal the deal. The Osprey scored six runs off six hits in the frame to take full control. Two doubles highlighted the inning, then a flurry of singles would follow. North Florida ended the game with 16 hits.

The top of the order was great for North Florida in this one. The top four hitters in the lineup accounted for eight hits, six RBI and five runs.

Butler got RBI's from Gargano, Jones and Ryan O'Halloran. Kollyn All was the only Bulldog to record more than one hit and Gargano led the team with two runs scored.

These two teams will play again on Wednesday. First pitch has been moved up to 2 PM.
