INDIANAPOLIS – The first BIG EAST opponent to visit Bulldog Park this season will be the Georgetown Hoyas. With Easter falling on Sunday, April 17, this three-game series will be moved up to Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. All three games will stream on FloSports with the finale going live on the BIG EAST Digital Network. Mark Minner and Nick Gardner will call the action in the press box with Kelly Halllinan joining them from the sideline.

Scouting Georgetown
The Hoyas are 20-13 overall after defeating UMBC on Tuesday afternoon by the final score of 10-2. They opened BIG EAST action on April 1 at home against Villanova, winning two of three against the Wildcats. The following weekend, Georgetown traveled to Charles Schwab Field and were swept by the Creighton Bluejays 8-5, 12-1, and 14-2.

Big bats in the Georgetown lineup belong to Ubaldo Lopez, Andrew Ciufo, and Jake Hyde. Lopez hit two home runs on Tuesday to move his season total to 14. He is now just one home run away from tying Georgetown's program record for most in a season (Glen Bruckner – 15 in 1987). Ciufo moved his batting average to .324 on the year after going 3-for-5 at the dish against the Retrievers. The best numbers of any Hoya belong to Hyde. The 6-4 sophomore is batting .368 with 50 hits over 33 games. He has 12 doubles and 13 home runs for a team-high 36 RBI. He also leads the team in runs scored (40).

Georgetown leads the BIG EAST Conference with 66 home runs. They average two homers per contest and have 12 different student-athletes with at least one round tripper on the year. The Hoyas also rank second in the league in runs (246), and slugging percentage (.497).

Nolan McCarthy, Carter Bosch and Matthew Sapienza are scheduled to make starts over the weekend. McCarthy will make his ninth start of the season on Thursday afternoon. He is 3-2 on the year with a 5.31 ERA. McCarthy is the team leader in both innings pitched (42.1) and strikeouts (47). Another right-handed will touch the rubber on Friday. Carter Bosch will make his sixth start of the campaign. A 6-2 senior from McLean, Va., Bosch has a 3-2 record on the mound with a 4.81 ERA. He has 31 strikeouts in '22 to go along with just 12 walks.

Streak
Ryan O'Halloran led off the seventh inning with a hit on Tuesday against Evansville to extend his hitting streak to eight games. He is now tied for the longest streak of the season (
James Gargano and
Travis Holt). O'Halloran has also reached base safely in 12-straight games.

Butler has been much more aggressive on the base paths in 2022. The 'Dawgs have stolen 52 bases on 70 attempts. In 2021, BU only stole 27 bases on 35 tries.

Travis Holt and
Aaron Steinhart are batting over .300 for the Bulldogs this season. Holt leads the team with 40 hits, including five doubles and three home runs. Steinhart is close behind with 38 hits. The BU designated hitter has a team-best seven home runs helping him lead the club with 27 RBI.

Each team this weekend has a closer with four saves.
Derek Drees has been great for Butler in critical situations. The senior is 2-0 on the hill with a 0.47 ERA. He has a team-best four saves in 10 appearances and has struck out 30 batters over 19.1 innings of action. Georgetown's closer is left-hander Angelo Tonas. He has four saves on 18 total appearances. Tonas holds onto a 4.64 ERA and has 26 strikeouts in 21.1 innings.

Cory Bosecker and
Aaron Barokas will each make their ninth start of the season this weekend. Bosecker leads the team in strikeouts (44) and innings pitched (40.1). Barokas is second in each category with 33 strikeouts in 32.1 innings.

BIG EAST Home Openers
The Bulldogs took two of three against Villanova last year to open up BIG EAST action at Bulldog Park. The only other time BU has won a three-game BIG EAST series at the start of conference play on their home field came in 2016 against Georgetown (2-1).

Georgetown is slated to start three right-handed pitchers this weekend. The best BU student-athletes to play against right-handed pitching include Garrett Gray (.348),

Butler will host Northern Kentucky and Dayton next week before traveling to New York for a three-game series against St. John's. The Norse will play at Bulldog Park on Tuesday at 4 PM. The following day the Flyers will make the trip to Indy to play at 4 PM.
