Azusa, Calif. –
The Butler track and field teams set a new program record and climbed up the school leaderboards in multiple events during a west coast trip this week for the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Thursday

Rebecca Coan and Karmen Koch finished competing in the heptathlon, which had started Wednesday afternoon. Coan would've broke the school record in the long jump with a 5.88m leap (19' 3 ½") as part of her 5107 overall points, but the wind was over the allowable limit for it to count. Koch finished right behind with 4992 points.

A quartet of Bulldogs finished with some of the top times in the 800m in program history, highlighted by Matthew Wigelsworth's time of 1:48.92 which ranks second in school history. The time was good for third in his heat 17th overall in a field of 196. Chandler McGaha (1:49.70, fourth), Trey Harris (1:51.67, ninth) and Liam Dennis (1:52.03, twelfth) also finished high on the 800m Butler leaderboard.

In 5000m races, Mia Beckham finished second in her section of 20 with a time of 16:10.00, which now ranks fourth in school history. Kami Hankins (16:10.31) and Laure Bertrand (16:12.01) finished right behind Beckham's time to stand at 5-6 on the Butler leaderboard in the event. Maddie McLain also set a personal best time of 16:46.86.

Pierre-Louis Detourbe (14:03.78) and Will Minnette (14:15.70) also finished high in their sections of the men's 5k to set new personal records.

Friday

The Bulldogs picked up where they left off Thursday when it comes to rearranging the program leaderboards.

Zac Stanley posted the third best mark in school history in the long jump with a 7.41m (24' 3 ¾") leap. It was good enough for eighth in the field of 68.

Isaac Kane (47.64) and Jacob Uhl (47.86) finished seventh and thirteenth, respectively in 400m dash out of a field of 85. Kane's time is the second fastest in school history, just three one-hundredths of a second behind Tom Pitkin's 47.61 set last year.

Kane kept it going in the 200m dash with a time of 21.36 seconds, which was No. 11 in the field of 114. In the women's 200m race, Rebecca Collester finished with the 32nd best time (24.89) out of the field of 130.

Friday night, Jesse Hamlin bettered his own school record in the 1500m, clocking in at 3:38.85 to place 16th in a field of 145. Liam Dennis also had a personal best in the event with a 3:53.17 time.
In the women's 1500m race, Corinna Pena set a new personal best with a time of 4:23.72.
