Final Results
Butler came away with a third-place finish at the Lady Jaguar Invitational, the final tune-up for the Bulldogs prior to this week's BIG EAST Championships.
Ally Ross led the Bulldogs with a second-place finish. She followed her one-under 71 from Saturday with an even-par 72 in Sunday's final round. She carded four birdies on the 5,921-yard Plum Creek course in Carmel, Ind., for the second day in a row. Her total of 143 (-1) was five shots behind medalist Anna Watson of Eastern Michigan. Ross was four shots better than UIC's Megan Tang, who finished in third.
Butler finished the 36-hole event at 609 (+33). The Bulldogs shot 312 Sunday, one day after carding a 297. Eastern Michigan took the team title with a score of 585 (+9), while host IUPUI was second at 601 (+25). There were seven teams in the field; Butler was three shots better than fourth-place Dayton.
Emma Kelly, playing as an individual, was Butler's second-best performer. She followed an opening-round one-over 73 in the opening round with a Sunday 80. She tied for 15
th at 153 (+9).
Alaina Bowie was one shot behind Kelly, tying for 18
th at 154 (+10). She shot 81 Sunday.
Claire Edwards was part of the group that tied for 20
th at 155 (+11) after rounds of 75 and 80. Â
The other two in Butler's line-up were freshmen
Katie Steinman and
Madalin Small. Steinman was tied for 24
th at the start of Sunday's round and finished there as well following a Sunday 79 (+7). Steinman shot 157 (+13). Small shot rounds of 85 and 83 to finish at 168 (+24) and in a tie for 43
rd. Â
Nicole Jordan, playing as an individual, matched Small's total of 168 and tied for 43
rd. Giana Medica, also playing as an individual, finished 49
th at 181 (+37).
The Bulldogs now turn their attention to the 2022 BIG EAST Championships, which begin Thursday and run through Saturday at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.
