@ButlerUBaseball Posts 6-5 Win Over Northern Kentucky

INDIANAPOLIS Aaron Steinhart delivered an RBI single through the right side of the infield in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Butler a 6-5 advantage and Lukas Galdoni would come in from the bullpen to record the final six outs to help Butler post a 6-5 victory over visiting Northern Kentucky on Tuesday afternoon. The win moves Butler to 17-20 on the season.

Galdoni didn't allow a hit over two innings of work to record his third save of the 2022 season. The start went to Cole McDaniel and the win would belong to John MacCauley. BU only used three pitchers in the midweek showdown, compared to eight for the Norse. McDaniel led the team with three strikeouts in his 3.2 inning outing. MacCauley picked up his third win of the season by throwing 3.1 innings of action.

Butler scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab a quick 3-0 lead. Kyle Van Liere scored on a wild pitch and Ryan O'Halloran would hit a sac fly into right to score Travis Holt. The inning was highlighted by Kollyn All and his RBI double to left center the scored Steinhart.

NKU climbed back into the game by scoring a run in the second and third inning. Gick got the visiting team on the scoreboard with a solo home run to right and an RBI single from Glass made the game 3-2.

Butler would expand their lead in the bottom of the third with two runs. Van Liere scored on a wild pitch and Holt would touch home plate moments later to make the game 5-2.

Northern Kentucky knotted the game at 5-5 in the sixth with a sacrifice fly, but Steinhart would push BU over the top with his seventh inning RBI single.

The Bulldogs were limited to just six hits on the day while the Norse posted nine. Van Liere was excellent for the 'Dawgs going 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored. Kollyn All also had a multi-hit game.

The Bulldogs will rest up tonight and host Dayton tomorrow for a 4 PM first pitch.
