INDIANAPOLIS — Eastern Illinois took game two over Butler on Saturday Afternoon. The Panthers scored a run in three consecutive innings to secure the 3-2 win over the Bulldogs. Cameron Doherty earned the win, and Zane Robbins was credited with the save for Eastern Illinois.
Aaron Barokas handled the first 4.0 innings of the game and
Jon Vore the last 5.0 for the Bulldogs. The RHP pitcher Vore allowed six hits and no runs in 19 batters faced.
EIU tallied the first run in the second as Travis Reaves reached on a fielder's choice, and Ryan Ignoffo scored. Then,
Ryan O'Halloran tripled to right-center (RBI), and
Billy Wurch scored on the hit, getting the Bulldogs on the board.
In the third, Lucas DiLuca singled to center field (RBI), and Ja'Lil Akbar scored. The Panthers Nathan Aide would homer in the fourth to give EIU a two-run lead. The Bulldogs would chip away at the lead in the sixth as
Aaron Steinhart homered (RBI) to move the score 3-2.
Jesse Wainscott came in at the bottom of the eighth to relieve Doherty and secure the Panther's win.
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow with a doubleheader to close out the four-game series.
