INDIANAPOLIS – Butler women's basketball head coach
Austin Parkinson is excited to announce that Minnesota transfer Caroline Strande will continue her collegiate career as a Bulldog. A 5-11 guard from Racine, Wisconsin, Strande was a three-star recruit coming out of Racine Lutheran High School. She averaged 35.3 points per game during her senior season as a Crusader and also averaged 10.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 5.4 steals and 1.6 blocks per contest.
"Caroline is an athletic wing who brings the experience of playing in the Big Ten along with her natural ability to score the basketball," Parkinson stated. "Bulldog fans will love seeing her versatility as she can guard multiple positions defensively and score in a number of ways on offense. She is the type of player who just loves playing ball which is exactly what we are looking for."
Strande played one full season at Minnesota in 2020-21 and will have three years of eligibility remaining at Butler. As a Golden Gopher, Strande played in 21 games. She scored 56 total points, shooting 43 percent from the field and 31 percent from 3-point range.
Before attending Minnesota, Strande was touted as the No. 29 guard in the country coming out of high school. A First Team All-State selection and McDonald's All-American nominee, Strande left Racine Lutheran as the school's all-time leader in points (over 2,500), field goals made, free throws made, steals and assists. She finished her career ranked fifth in state history in scoring. Strande averaged 29.4 ppg as a junior, 23.1 as a sophomore and 16.8 as a freshman. She was a three-time all-conference and all-county selection that also excelled in the classroom as a Racine County Sports Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete honoree that placed her name on the school's High Honor Roll three times.
