Visiting Georgetown came away with a 17-7 win over Butler Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field.
On a chilly day in Indianapolis, the Hoyas were able to improve to 7-6 on the season and 2-0 in BIG EAST play.
Scoring the first six goals of the contest, the Hoyas eventually built an 11-2 halftime lead before the teams essentially played all square over the final 30 minutes.
Erin Bakes (five) and Mary Pagano (four) led the Georgetown offensive charge, combining for nine of the team's 17 goals. Each added a single assist. Bakes scored on five of her six shots, while Pagano connected on four of her five attempts. Ali Diamond also had six shots for the Hoyas, chipping in with a game-high four assists.
The Hoyas were able to maintain possession with an 18-9 advantage in draw controls.
Lindsey Schreiber scored three goals for Butler, while
Gabryelle Bodine added two.
Campbell Connors and
Greer Bireley both had two assists. Bodine led Butler with nine shots.
Georgetown held a slim edge in shots, 34-30. The Hoyas' Emily Gaven made 10 saves.
Katie McGrath had six saves for the Bulldogs (6-6, 0-2 BIG EAST) before giving way to
Aleigh Monroe midway through the second period.

The Bulldogs return to action one week from today, traveling to Milwaukee for a BIG EAST contest at Marquette.
