#15 UConn Records 17-4 Win Against @ButlerUBaseball

INDIANAPOLIS – UConn scored nine runs in the seventh inning to pull away from the Bulldogs and collect their 37th win of the 2022 season. The game was tight after the sixth inning with the Huskies leading the Bulldogs 5-3, but a grand slam would shake up the scoreboard and give the visiting team a 17-4 victory.

UConn scored 17 runs off 12 hits and got a grand slam from Casey Dana. Kevin Ferrer also hit a ball off the scoreboard on Sunday. He went 2-for-6 from the plate with a homer and three RBI.

The Bulldogs broke up the 4-0 UConn lead in the fourth with a Kollyn All RBI double that scored Travis Holt. James Gargano would double for the 'Dawgs in the fifth to score Kyle Van Liere and Holt made the game 4-3 with his RBI single to center.

UConn added an insurance run moments later with Ferrer's solo shot to right in the sixth. The seventh told the story and moved UConn into the win column.

Enzo Stefanoni got the win for the Huskies and John MacCauley took the loss for the Bulldogs. On the day, BU pitching walked 13 batters. Jon Vore had the most success on the mound against UConn. He tossed two innings, recorded three strikeouts and gave up just one run.

The Bulldogs will focus on final exams this week and get a multiple days of practice in before hosting Xavier next weekend. Game one is set for Friday at 4 PM.
