Saturday Results

The Bulldogs completed competition at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Saturday as two Butler women sought a spot in the upcoming NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.

The meet began Wednesday in Bloomington, Ind., at the Haugh Track & Field Complex. Butler had three men competing earlier in the week in addition to the two women Saturday.

Rebecca Coan tied for 34th in the high jump Saturday, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 7.25 inches (1.71 meters). The clearance was just off her qualifying mark, which was also her personal-best set at the 2022 BIG EAST Championships (1.75 meters).

Coan out-performed her spot in the field as her qualifying mark had her at 42nd among the 48 in the field entering the event.

Eleven athletes cleared 6 feet, .5 inches (1.84 meters), which comprised a majority of the 12 who advanced to the NCAA Championships in Eugene. A jump-off for the final spot included athletes who cleared 5 feet, 11.25 inches (1.81 meters).

Mia Beckham finished 34th in the 5,000 meters Saturday night, crossing the line in a time of 16:31.02. There were 48 runners in the field, spread across two heats.

Beckham qualified for the East Regional with a time of 16:10.00, a personal-best from the Bryan Clay Invitational in California in April. That time was No. 37 among the qualifying times.

The top five from each of the two heats in addition to the next two best times qualified for next month's NCAA Championships in Eugene. North Carolina State's Katelyn Tuohy won the Regional in a time of 15:27.14.

For the Bulldogs, graduate student Barry Keane will represent the Bulldogs at next month's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. Keane will run the 10,000 meters after finishing fifth in Wednesday night's East Regional race. He earned one of the 12 spots awarded in Bloomington and will join 12 runners from the West Regional to comprise the field.
