Final Results
Bloomington, Ind. – Jesse Hamlin's new school record in the 800m was one of two records and five event wins for the Butler track and field teams at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday.
Hamlin topped the field of 13 with a 1:48.32 time to best Kris Gauson's outdoor program record (1:48.66) from 2009.
Matthew Wigelsworth finished the race in second, and would have held the record if not for Hamlin with a time of 1:48.56.
The 4x400 relay unit of
Michael Beros,
Isaac Kane, Stanley and
Jacob Uhl also broke a school record with a time of 3:10.83 to finish first in the race.
Joey Gareis and
Ben Bradley teamed up with Stanley and Uhl to finish third in the 4x100m relay (41.15 seconds).
Another first place finish in a field of 13 for the Bulldogs was
Tom Pitkin finishing the 400m dash in 48.11 seconds. Bulldogs swept the podium in the men's 3000m race with
Andrew Taylor (8:26.60),
Andrew Kendrick (8:27.91) and
Sean Robertson (8:33.13) finishing 1-3.
Six Bulldogs claimed podium finishes in women's races, with the duos of
Mia Beckham (4:22.76) and
Corinna Pena (4:22.92) in the 1500m and
Quinn Shanahan (9:51.90) and
Ashlyn Minton (10:09.95) in the 3000m finishing second and third, respectively, in their races.
Camille Hines placed second in her 800m race (2:18.77), while
Rebecca Collester came in third in the 200m dash with a time of 24.44 seconds.
Angelina Ellis, running unattached, won the 1500m race (4:22.11).
In field events,
Drew Herman came in second in the high jump with a 2.04m leap, while
Zac Stanley placed third in the long jump with a mark of 7.03m.
The Bulldogs will next compete at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships next Friday and Saturday in Storrs, Conn.
