Eugene, Ore. – Butler's Barry Keane finished ninth in the 10,000m run at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday night at Hayward Field.

Keane's time of 28:19.94 was within a second of the 8^th-place finisher for a First Team All-American spot. Notre Dame's Dylan Jacobs won the race in a time of 28:12.32.

"It was a strong run for Barry tonight," Butler head coach Matt Roe said. "He navigated the race smart against a supremely talented, elite group. To finish inside the Top 10 in one of the best fields in NCAA history is an incredible feat. He's continuing to gain momentum, and we are excited for his future as a Bulldog."

Campbell's Athanas Kioko got off to a blistering start to pace the field of 24 by roughly 100 meters for much of the first half of the race before eventually finishing in fifth.

Keane capped off a successful year on the track that also included an 11^th-place finish in the 5000m run at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. The graduate student from Waterford, Ireland, has another season of eligibility for the Butler cross country and track and field programs.
