Incoming freshman David Slapak is set to run in the 3000m at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia.
 
The Liberek, Czech Republic, native has a personal best time of 8:05.09 at that distance and will compete amongst a field of 34. The preliminary heats are scheduled for Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. local time (10 a.m. ET), while the final race is set to begin at 5:04 p.m. local time (6:04 ET) on Friday afternoon.
 
The top six times in each of the two heats plus the next three fastest times qualify for the finals. Live results and a live radio stream can be found at the link above.
 
Cali is in the western portion of Colombia, about 188 miles southwest of capital city Bogota and a few dozen miles from the Pacific Ocean. Cali is known as Colombia's sport capital, having hosted the 1971 Pan American Games, the 1992 World Wrestling Championships, and the 2021 Junior Pan American Games among other sporting events.
