INDIANAPOLIS – The women's swim team opens up their 2022-23 season this Sunday at 12 PM with the annual Butler Double Dual. The event features Xavier, St. Louis, Bellarmine, IUPUI, and Eastern Illinois. The Bulldogs play host to the meet that will be held at Fishers High School (13000 Promise Rd, Fishers, IN 46038).
 
The Bulldogs return sophomore Alani Hightower-Bend who earned the team's freshman award last season. Hightower-Bend holds school records in the 100 Free (51.22) and 100 back (55.98).
 
Senior Issy Petersen and junior Emily Landwehr also return for the Bulldogs. Both were members of the 400 (3:27.04) and 800 Free (7:36.92) school record setting relay teams. Peterson was also a part of the 200 Free (1:34.56) school record setting team.
 
The Butler roster this season will feature nine freshman, six sophomores, three juniors and eight seniors.
 
Head Coach Maurice Stewart returns for his 18th season leading the team. The program will begin its 10th season in the BIG EAST conference for the 2022-23 season.
 
The 2021-22 team earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America honors, being selected as a Scholar All-America Team. The team posted a GPA of 3.51.
