Following 36 holes Monday, the Bulldogs are in the heart of the leaderboard at the Zach Johnson Invitational in Iowa. The teams will tee it up for a final 18 on Tuesday.
 
THE BULLDOGS: Freshman Connor McNeely leads the Butler contingent after the opening day of play at five-over 147. He shot 72 in the morning before an afternoon 75. He is among a group that is tied for 18th.
 
Classmate Will Horne shot 77-72 and is tied for 25th at 149 (+7). Damon Dickey is one shot behind Horne's group at 150 (+8) after two rounds of 75. Dickey is tied for 27th.
 
Weston Guili, in his first action of the season, is tied for 48th at 12-over 154.
 
THE TEAMS: North Dakota State has an 11-shot lead after 36 holes of play Monday. NDSU shot rounds of 277 and 283 for a total of 560 (-11). Iowa State (+3) and Valparaiso (+8) round out the top three.
 
Butler stands in seventh among the 14 teams. The Bulldogs shot rounds of 303 and 294 Monday. Their total of 597 is 29-over. The Bulldogs are four shots back of sixth-place St. Thomas and four shots in front of Northern Iowa, who is in eighth place at 601 (+33).
 
NDSU's Ian Simonich has the individual lead at seven-under 135. He is three shots ahead of Valparaiso's Anthony Delisanti entering the final round.
 
THE COURSE: The Glen Oaks Country Club is a par-71, 6,898-yard course located in West Des Moines, Iowa.
 
TUESDAY'S SCHEDULE: The final 18 will be played on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. (Central) shotgun start.
