Final Results

The Bulldogs opened the 2022 season with a top-five finish at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational.
 
AS A TEAM:
 
The Bulldogs tied for fifth with Northern Kentucky at 871 (+31).
 
Wright State repeated as champions of the event, finishing the 54-hole event at 846 (+6). That was good for a 13-shot lead over host Ball State (859).
 
Oakland (third; 864) and Loyola (fourth, 869) were also among the leaders. There were 15 teams in the field. Butler stood in a tie for third following the first 36 holes on Friday.
 
Butler shot a 10-over 290 Saturday in Muncie.
 
INDIVIDUALLY:
 
Freshman Derek Tabor and Henry Quinn each carded two-over Saturday 72s. Tabor eagled two of the Delaware Country Club's drivable par-4s, posting a 2 on both the 264-yard third and the 302-yard 11th. Quinn had five birdies on the afternoon. Quinn shot 68 (-2) in the opening round.
 
At 218 (+8) for the event, Quinn finished in a tie for 16th. Tabor tied for 38th at 12-over 222.
 
Damon Dickey was the top-performing Bulldog over the 54 holes. His total of 217 (+7) tied for 12th. He shot 73 (+3) Saturday after Friday rounds of 71 and 73.
 
Daniel Tanaka and Connor McNeely finished alongside Tabor as part of a group that tied for 38th at 222 (+12) for the event. McNeely's Saturday card featured five birdies and a score of 75. Tanaka shot three-over 73 Saturday.
 
Ball State's Joey Wiseman shot four-under 66 Saturday to move into a tie with Wright State's Mikkel Mathiesen at two-under 208. The duo was three shots clear of the rest of the field.
 
OF NOTE:
  • Butler's team total of 290 Saturday slotted in between their outputs of 283 (morning) and 298 (afternoon) Friday.
  • The event marked the first tournaments as Bulldog for both McNeely and Tabor.
  • Dickey played the front nine at five-under over the three rounds (27 total holes).
UP NEXT: The Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.V.; the two-day tournament begins Monday, Sept. 12.
