NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced Friday the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park in Chicago will be the home of the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships through 2025, extending their partnership an additional two years. DePaul will remain the co-host of the annual postseason meet which is held the last weekend of February each year.
"We are excited to announce this extension with Dr. Conrad Worrill Indoor Track and Field Center at Gately Park for the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships," said Chris Schneider, BIG EAST Executive Associate Commissioner for Sports Administration and Championships. "Last season, this facility provided our student-athletes, coaches, administrators and fans with a special and unparalleled experience and we're excited to see that continue for the next couple years. We are grateful to continue partnering with the remarkable staffs at Dr. Conrad Worrill Center and DePaul to heighten the experience of everyone who competes at and attends our conference indoor track and field championships."
Since 2022, Dr. Conrad Worrill Center, along with DePaul University has been the host of the indoor track and field championships. The 2023 Championships begin Friday, Feb. 24 and continues Saturday, Feb. 25.
Located in Gately Park's Pullman neighborhood, the facility opened in 2020, and has become a host for a variety of prestigious competitions and regional and national championships. The center is a world-class facility with the area's first hydraulically banked 200-meter track. Within the 139,000-square foot facility there is a seating capacity for 3,500 and includes supporting amenities such as a meet management control room, concessions, multipurpose rooms and locker rooms. Additionally, the facility features a 4,000-square foot curtained warm-up area, eight sprint lanes, two long and triple jump runways and pits, pole-vault runway and pads, a high jump area, discus area and scoreboard. Ticket information about the 2023 BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships will be released in February.
