@ButlerSwimming Hosts 14th Annual Butler Invitational

The Butler swim team competed in the 14th Annual Butler Invitational on Sunday. The Bulldogs hosted Xavier, Ball State, Youngstown State, Eastern Illinois, Indianapolis, and Valparaiso.

The meet served as senior day for Colleen Carey, Allie Carmichael, Jillian Dawson, Cami McGrady, Abigail Nebot, Issy Petersen, Abigail Roberts, and Alexa Vota. 
As a team, Butler scored 650 points and placed fourth. Carmichael was tabbed "Swimmer of the Meet" while Petersen and Elizabeth Naylor were recognized as honorable mention by head coach Maurice Stewart. 

The 200 Free saw Carmichael and Emily Landwehr swim their season best times of 2:01.20 and 2:01.59. Teammate Caroline Zimner finished ahead of the two with a 1:56.35 fourth-place finish. 

Carmichael also impressed in the 200 Breast with an eighth-place result and a solid 2:30.14 time. Kate Schilling touched the wall right behind Carmichael in 11th at 2:30.57. 

The 100 Free featured Naylor's season best of 53.92 at ninth and a 55.78 time from Petersen. Naylor posted another season best in the 1650 Free at 18:11.02 which was good enough for fifth place. Olivia McKee swam 18:43.98 in the same 1650 Free event and took tenth. 

Landwehr added to her season best times in the 100 Fly with a 1:02.00. Likewise, Roberts' 1:02.75 in the same event was just shy of her season best time. 

Butler's best finish was a 5:14.98, second place swim from Zimner in the 500 Free. Zimner was also involved in the 200 IM where she placed eighth with 2:12.43 ahead of Avery Piel who touched the wall in 12th with 2:15.24.

The 200 Free relay team of Alani Hightower-Bend, Schilling, Landwehr, and Zimner placed top 10 at seventh with their time of 1:40.10. 

Other top 10 finishes included Hightower-Bend's 24.93, 10th in the 50 Free and Schilling's sixth place in the 200 Fly where she timed out at 2:12.19. 

The Bulldogs compete in the BIG EAST Championships next on Feb. 22 through Feb. 25.
