Lily Carmody Chooses Butler to Complete Recruiting Class

| By:
INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs have added another talented player to their incoming recruiting class with Lily Carmody making her decision official this week. Carmody, a 5-11 WNBL guard from Melbourne, Australia, will head to Indianapolis to join the women's basketball program in 2024.

"Lily is a physical guard who can get after you defensively and attack you in transition," Head Coach Austin Parkinson said. "Her high basketball IQ and overall craftiness on the offensive end makes her a difficult matchup for her opponents. As a developmental player in the WNBL, she has gained valuable experience playing against top talent from all over the world, which has been tremendous prep for playing at a high level in the BIG EAST."

Carmody played two seasons at the Senior Women's Level in Australia, first in the NBL1 South with the Melbourne Tigers and then as a developmental player with the Melbourne Boomers (WNBL). She was the leading scorer for the Tigers at just 16 years old and she was able to play and train with WNBA Stars (Jordan Canada, Naz Hillman, Tiffany Mitchell, Cayla George, Kristy Wallace and Olivia Nelson-Ododa) while with the Boomers.

Carmody was a NBL1 South Youth Player of the Year Nominee that recently competed in the Basketball Without Borders program in Las Vegas. She was also a member of the U19 Australian Gems Squad and a silver medalist for the U20 Basketball Victoria State Team.

At the high school level, Carmody helped her team reach the Elite 8 in back-to-back seasons. She scored 37 points in a semi-final game to help her team advance. She also won the Victorian State 3-on-3 tournament as a senior.

Carmody is the fourth player to commit to BU for 2024. Mckenzie Swanson, Lily Zeinstra, and Jocelyn Land all signed a National Letter of Intent on Nov. 8.
