INDIANAPOLIS --Butler dominated Austin Peay in the third quarter to deliver a 53-47 victory to the fans inside Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
Caroline Strande was sensational with a career-high 21 points, and the Bulldog defense limited the Govs to just 19 points over the final 20 minutes to improve to 2-1 on the young season.

Austin Peay got off to a hot start and scored 18 points in the first quarter to lead by 11 after the first quarter. The 'Dawgs opened the game going 0-for-6 from the field and trailed Austin Peay 9-2 at the first media timeout.

The lineup was altered at the start of the second quarter and
Kendall Wingler and
Riley Makalusky would provide BU with points to get the team back within six at 18-12. Butler moved forward to win the second frame 16-10, making the game 28-23 at the half.

The story in this one came in the third quarter. Butler outscored Austin Peay 20-5 during that 10-minute stretch and ended the third on a 17-1 scoring run. Strande went and-1 to tie the game at 32-32 and her made free throw after the media timeout put BU in front.

The 10-point BU lead quickly vanished though at the start of the fourth quarter. The Govs got their offense going and scored a quick five points before a Butler timeout. After the stoppage, they added five more to tie the game at 43-43.

Butler regrouped and put together a run of their own right after to grab a 51-43 advantage. The team locked in defensively the rest of the way to come up with win #2 on the season.
