INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler swim team placed ninth at the 19th Annual House of Champions Meet held at IUPUI. Head Coach

Kate Schilling,
Emily Landwehr, and
Jamie Gindorf as the swimmers of the meet for the Bulldogs.

"Overall, we had a solid House of Champions meet against many competitive teams this weekend," Stewart stated. "It was great to see the team energy, team unity, and the competitive focus and fight from everyone throughout the three-day meet."

Schilling became the first Butler swimmer to win an individual event at the House of Champions Invitational. She set a new school record in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:16.23. Schilling also set the school record in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:03.34 in the prelims. She placed fourth in the finals.

Yet another school record was set for Butler in the 400 Free Relay. Schilling,Â
Olivia Stotts,
Alani Hightower-Bend and
Emily Landwehr posted a time of 3:27.0.

Landwehr set personal-best times in the 50 Free, 100 Breast, and 100 Free. Gindorf had personal-best times in the 50 Free and 100 Breast while clocking a season-best time in the 100 Free. It was her last meet as a Bulldog due to her graduating a semester early in December.

Thursday Highlights
Landwehr, Hightower-Bend and Stotts were active for BU in the 50 Free. Landwehr placed sixth with a time of 23.55 and went 23.51 in the prelims (personal-best). Hightower-Bend placed 21st in the finals and clocked a time of 23.84 in the prelims. Stotts took 24th with a personal-best time of 23.86.

Grace Crane and
Sadie Brown were the top BU swimmers in the 200 IM. Crane swam at 2:11.58 in the prelims and placed 20th in the finals. Brown placed 17th and won the C-Final with a time of 2:07.95.

Caroline Zimner placed 27th for Butler in the 500 Free. Her season-best time was set at 5:11.66.Â

In relay action, Landwehr, Stotts, Bergman and Hightower-Bend placed seventh in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:35.01. Leffler, Schilling, Hightower-Bend and Stotts made up the 400 Medley Relay Team that placed 10th (3:53.49).

Friday Highlights
Lauren Bergman and
Avery Piel swam for BU in the 100 Fly. Bergman placed eighth with a personal-best time of 56.85. Piel had a BIG EAST Qualifying Time at 1:00.20.

Brown and Zimner were the top BU swimmers in the 400 IM. Brown placed ninth and won the B-Final with a season-best time of 4:30.37. Zimner also had a season-best time and placed 16th (4:36.90).

Elizabeth Naylor represented Butler in the 200 Free (1:54.05) and
Lydia Eberlein was the top Bulldog in the 100 Breast (1:05.79).

A trio of Bulldogs swam great for the program in the 100 Back. Hightower-Bend finished in 17th place with a time of 57.47,
Gianna Leffler was close behind in 19th (57.93) and
Olivia McKee rounded out the group in 24th (59.14).

Friday relays included the 800 Free and the 200 Medley. Schilling, Zimner, Landwehr and Naylor helped BU finish eighth in the 800 Free (7:42.77) and Leffler, Landwehr, Schilling and Hightower-Bend made up the seventh place 200 Team (1:44.02).

Saturday Highlights
Oliva McKee and
Caroline Zimner were great for Butler in the 200 Back. McKee placed 16th with her season-best time of 2:06.77 and Zimner placed 18th in the C-Final with a season-best time of 2:06.23.

Stotts had a personal best time in the 100 Free (51.93) and
Lydia Eberlein and
Ava McGonigle swam well for BU in the 200 Breast. Eberlein was just off her personal-best time for 19th (2:25.53) and McGonigle placed 24th (2:26.80).

Sadie Brown finished ninth in the B-Final of the 200 Fly with a time of 2:08.00.

The 400 Free Relay wrapped up the event with Butler setting a new school record. Stotts, Hightower-Bend, Schilling and Landwehr placed their name in the BU record book with a time of 3:27.00.

"It was exciting to set a new school record in the 400 Free Relay to finish the meet," Stewart added. The meet was also a good rehearsal for us since the BIG EAST Championships will be held at the IUPUI Natatorium in late February."
