The Bulldogs opened the 2023-24 track season at the Blue & Golf Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.

Butler was joined in the field by athletes from host Notre Dame, BIG EAST rivals Marquette and DePaul, as well as Northern Illinois, Detroit Mercy, Indiana Tech, Grace, Bethel, Marian (Ind.) and Trine.

Top-three performances by the Bulldogs included:

- Zac Stanley won the men's long jump with a leap of 6.79 meters (22' 3.25"). Freshman Cabott Craft was third in the event (6.68m).
- Jack Elder and Luke Walden went 1-2 in the pole vault. Elder won the event, clearing 4.80 meters (15'9"), while Walden was second at 4.50 meters (14' 9.25").Â
- Drew Herman cleared the high jump bar at a height of 1.95 meters (6' 4.75") to claim second in the event.
- Michael Dunagan posted a time of 4:26.40 in the men's mile, finishing second.Â
- Sean Robertson's time of 8:27.87 was good for third in the men's 3,000 meters.
- The Bulldogs placed three teams in both the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays. One of those groups – Harrison Hrbek, Stanley, Ben Bradley and Lairden Rogge – placed second on the men's side in a time of 3:23.55.Â

A handful of Bulldogs are in Boston for Saturday events at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, an early-season meet that brings together some of the nation's elite athletes.

The group that was in South Bend Friday will return to action a week from tonight (Dec. 8) at the Indiana Early Bird Meet in Bloomington, Ind.
