LEXINGTON, S.C. – Head Coach
Blake Beemer secured the first two wins of his Bulldog career on Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs swept the Knights to improve to 2-1 on the season. Butler shut Fairleigh Dickinson out in the first game 3-0 and won the nightcap 16-7.
Joey Urban tripled to score
Kyle Van Liere to open up the scoring in game one. He later came around to score on a wild pitch in the second to make the game 2-0. A bases loaded walk would finalize the scoring as
Garret Gray reached base on balls to score
Xavier Carter.
Aaron Barokas was awesome on the bump. He threw five full innings and limited the Knights to just one hit.
Jon Vore came in for relief and
Lukas Galdoni would pick up his first save of the season.
Game two was high scoring with BU scoring six in the first, one in the fourth, two in the sixth, four in the seventh and three more in the bottom of the eighth to post a 16-7 win.
Carter Dorighi went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Jake DeFries was also an impact player with a three-run home run for the 'Dawgs in the seventh.
On the mound,
Cade Thune got the win after a
Luke Zmolik start. Zmolik fanned three over the first four innings of the game. Other 'Dawgs to touch the rubber included
Nick Miketinac,
Gabe Pancratz and
Cole Graverson.
The final game of the weekend between Butler and FDU will be played tomorrow at Noon.
