Keane Receives BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week

Barry Keane earned his first BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week for the 2022-2023 season. The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon by the conference office. This was Keane's sixth time receiving the award since joining the team in 2017.

At the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Keane clocked in at a time of 13:28.85 in the 5,000 meters. His time matches his mark from December and currently remains the top time in the BIG EAST this season. The graduate student also ranks tenth among all NCAA Division I distance runners.

This is Butler's fourth athlete nominated for the weekly track and field honors. Jesse Hamlin and Angelina Ellis were chosen for the track award on Dec. 14 while Drew Herman earned the field honors on Jan. 18.

The Bulldogs will travel to Chicago for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships this weekend from Feb. 24-25.
