Scouting Creighton                                                                               Â
The Bluejays are hosting a White Out against Butler on their Senior Day. Rachael Saunders and Carly Bachelor are the only two seniors on the roster. Head Coach Jim Flanery typically starts Saunders with four juniors. Saunders leads the team with 30 steals and scores 7.2 points per game. Three other Bluejays average double figures and every member of that trio has hit over 40 3-pointers this season. Creighton shoots more three's and defends the three better than anyone else in the conference. They average nine 3-pointers per game and make 37 percent of their attempts.

Creighton leads the all-time series against Butler 12-9. The Bluejays have won four-straight over BU, but the Bulldogs swept the regular season series vs. Creighton in 2019-20.

Butler's Last Game vs. Creighton                                                      Â
Emma Ronsiek scored a game-high 20 points in the first meeting to lead Creighton to a 75-56 victory at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bluejays shot 43 percent from behind the arc and ended the contest with 14 made 3-pointers. Ronsiek hit a team-high four and Lauren Jensen chipped in with three to score 15 points. Carly Bachelor also scored 15 points off the CU bench. The Bulldogs were led by
Sydney Jaynes and her team-high 16 points. Jaynes added five assists, three rebounds and two steals to her stat line on Jan. 14.

Creighton's Last Game                                                                       Â
Tied in the opening moments of the second half, Creighton went on a 9-0 run to pull away from the host Golden Eagles, picking up a 55-44 road win to complete the season sweep of Marquette. With the win, the Bluejays guaranteed a top three finish in the BIG EAST standings for the third time in the last four years. Creighton can finish as high as No. 2 or as low as No. 3, while Marquette can place anywhere between fourth and sixth. The victory was also the 20th of the season for Creighton becoming the fourth BIG EAST team to reach the 20-win mark. The setback halted Marquette's winning streak at four games as the Golden Eagles move to 18-9 on the year and 11-7 in league play. Morgan Maly led Creighton with 15 points and 10 boards, while Chloe Marotta had 13 points and seven rebounds for Marquette.

Austin Parkinson is the third coach in program history to win more than 10 games in his first year with the program. The Bulldogs have won 10 more games this year than last marking the largest jump in wins by a first-year head coach in Butler history.

Sydney Jaynes have each scored in double figures eight times in 2023 (14 games). McLimore leads the team in minutes, field goals made, 3-pointers made, and assists. Jaynes leads the team in rebounds and blocked shots. She ranks second on the team in minutes, field goals made, and assists. McLimore and Jaynes are the only two Bulldogs to start in all 28 games.

Butler set new season-high totals in field goals (31) and assists (22) against Seton Hall. It was their best shooting performance overall (55.4%) and their second-best effort from 3-point range (55.0%). 76 points vs. the Pirates was the team's fourth highest scoring output of the season.

Butler used an 11-0 scoring run at the end of the Seton Hall game to defeat the Pirates 76-64.
Caroline Strande came off the bench to score a career-high 19 points to help Butler win on Senior Night. The Bulldogs made their final six shots in the fourth quarter to win that 10-minute stretch 23-14. The 'Dawgs trailed Seton Hall by one at the half, but came back to win by outscoring SHU 43-30 in the second half. BU shot 55 percent from the field (31-56) and 55 percent from 3-point land (11-20).

Tournament Schedule is Set                                                              Â
Following Friday night's results, four seeds were locked up for next week's BIG EAST Tournament. Villanova defeated Providence 67-50, locking Creighton into the No. 3 seed. The Friars' loss, combined with Butler defeating Seton Hall 76-64, and Georgetown falling at St. John's 61-53, solidified the lower third of the bracket: No. 8 seed Butler, No. 9 seed Georgetown and No. 10 seed Providence, while Xavier had previously locked up the No. 11 seed. The Bulldogs and Hoyas will face off in the First Round on March 3 at 11 a.m. ET, followed by the Friars vs. DePaul, and closing out with Xavier against Seton Hall. The BIG EAST Tournament is set for March 3-6 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
